Elizabeth “Liz” Gamboa is the Executive Director at New Mexico Community Capital (NMCC), where she works at the intersection of equity and economic empowerment. Liz supports small business owners as a mentor in the Native Entrepreneur in Residence program and serves as a co-facilitator for the Business and Marketing Essentials program. Through the Tribal Economic Diversification group, she provides essential technical assistance and mentorship to NMCC clients, driven by a passion for regenerative, sustainable models and systems thinking principles.


An advocate for community leadership, Liz serves as Secretary on the board of directors for Native Community Capital and contributes to the Entrepreneurial Committee for Siembra Leadership High School in Albuquerque, NM. Her career spans the worlds of finance and technology, having previously served as a Wealth Management Analyst, Financial Advisor, and Senior Registered Associate at Morgan Stanley in San Francisco. She also gained early experience in the startup sector as a Project Manager for Quokka Sports during the dot-com era.


Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Finance and Financial Services from San Francisco State University and an MBA from Presidio Graduate School. Born and raised in Tongva territory (Los Angeles) and having spent over two decades in the Bay Area, she is of Indigenous Mexican and Apache descent. She now calls Albuquerque, NM home, where she continues to build community and inspire resilient business practices.
